Banana Split’s are a summertime favorite. This Banana Split Bar is a great idea for a birthday party or family gathering.
We joke our youngest is a monkey because he is obsessed with bananas. So much so that we were at the grocery store once and he tried to steal the banana’s out of another ladies cart and she thought he was going for her purse. Talk about embarrassing! For his birthday we decided to have a banana split bar instead of a cake and they were a huge hit with the kids and adults!
Banana Split Bar
A traditional banana split starts with a banana peeled and split lengthwise and placed in a boat. Place a scoop of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream on top and top with hot fudge, strawberry and pineapple topping. Top with whipped cream, sprinkle of nuts and maraschino cherries. Feel free to adapt according to your taste. We added sprinkles for the kids!
The bar was simple to put together here is my list of must have non food items:
Chalkboard – to list your ingredients
Plastic Banana Split Boats – Great for kids!
Large Bucket with Ice for the ice cream
Bowls or Sundae Dishes – for the toppings
Here is a list of food ingredients:
Bananas
Ice Cream – vanilla, chocolate and strawberry (or any combination you like – vanilla was the favorite at our party)
Ice Cream Toppings – hot fudge, strawberry and pineapple are the traditional toppings. Our crowd also loved the caramel and marshmallow flavors.
Extra Toppings – whipped cream, nut topping, maraschino cherries and sprinkles!
Here are 5 Tips for hosting an Ice Cream Party.
My favorite is using a crock pot to warm your sundae toppings!
