Company Beef is an easy stew beef recipe that uses 5 ingredients and is made with ginger ale and onion soup packet and tastes great served over egg noodles.
This recipe comes from my Mother-in-law and our whole family gobbles it up! The name says it all! Company Beef is a great recipe to make when you have company over or when you are taking a meal to someone.
Company Beef over Noodles
Stew Beef is used in this recipe, it is a well trimmed piece of beef usually cut from the leftovers from steaks or roasts. Stew Meat and Beef Tips are often used interchangeably but Beef Tips are usually from higher end cuts like the tenderloin and have more flavor, are less tough.
I like to use a Dutch Oven for this recipe since we are cooking it low and slow. If you don’ t have a Dutch Oven any casserole dish that has a lid will work. This would also be a great recipe to make in the slow cooker. I would cook on low for about 8 hours.
How to Make Company Beef
- In a casserole dish with lid, place beef, onion soup mix, soup, mushrooms and ginger ale.
- Bake covered in a 300 degree oven for 3 hours.
- Cook egg noodles as directed on package; drain.
- Serve meat over noodles.

Can you use an instant for this?
I am sure you could but I have never made it that way. You might look up recommendations for stew meat and follow that cooking time. Enjoy!
Yes! Tried it tonight. Cooked it for 40 mins on high. The beef was tender and flavorful. I also added a T. of crushed garlic and cooked the noodles on the side.
Hi! I’m looking forward to trying this in the InstantPot. Did you sauté the beef before pressure cooking? Or is it more of a dump and go?
Is the beef browned first?
No, just toss in and cook. Enjoy!
Looks wonderful! So glad you posted this recipe! 🙂
I don’t see any reason this couldn’t be cooked in a crock pot??? Anyone tried it that way?
I would think browning beef first would lend more flavor?
I don’t have ginger ale. Can I use something else?
I haven’t ever made it any other way but I would think a coke or beer would do the same but might change the taste just a little. If you try it let us know!
The recipe I have for this dish calls for a cup of dry sherry instead of the ginger ale! Funny
I have never heard of ginger ale in “company beef” What does it do for the dish and does it give it a “different” taste? I want to make this tonight, but I am “scared” lol
The only reason I have ginger ale in the house is to make this recipe. I just get the small cans and grab one when I need it. I actually just made this a couple nights ago! I use a lot of carbonated beverages when cooking meat. I think the sugar and carbonation help tenderize the meat. This is different than what I would call beef and noodles. My recipe for that can be found here: https://www.farmwifecooks.com/crock-pot-beef-and-noodles/ Enjoy!
Thank you! I was going to make beef and noodles, but we are going to try this instead. Anxious to see how it tastes. Thanks again!
Can you have this over rice? What rack do you use in oven, upper or lower? In oven now. Can hardly wait to try it!
Super easy to make, and my boys loved it! My favorite kind of recipe, and it doubled easily. Thank you!!!!!
All I had was cola, it worked great. Has become one of my go to meals.
What brand of ginger ale did you use?
Thanks
Katherine
I’ve used different kinds and never noticed a difference. Just don’t use diet. Enjoy!
So, so good! This is the first time I have ever cooked with stew beef and it didn’t turn out chewy or rubbery. Great recipe!
I thought the recipe was excellent- very easy! I didn’t have ginger ale so I used Coca-Cola like I read someone else did and I think it’s wonderful.
