Everyone will ask for seconds when you make this recipe for Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese with Ham. A yummy comfort food casserole.
I love mac n cheese. I have always loved macaroni and cheese. In fact, I have a funny story about mac n cheese. My sophomore yeah of college I moved in with 4 of my friends and right after we moved in my mom took me on a grocery haul. When we reached the blue box aisle she proceed to lecture me about how not everyone loves macaroni and cheese as much as I do. She insisted there needed to be a little more variety in the shopping cart. I replied that if they didn’t like mac n cheese they didn’t need to be my friend! 😛 I still giggle thinking about that day. Nothing has changed and I realized I didn’t have any recipes for my favorite food so I decided that needed to change!
Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese with Ham
We grew up with ham in our mac n cheese and it is often one of my go to recipes when we are at cow shows or on the go. I love that I can pop everything in the crock pot and then we have a warm meal when we get a chance to enjoy it. The base for this recipe comes from a friend, Jent. You can find her original recipe here. She and I have had lots of talks about mac n cheese and believe the taste all comes down to the cheese you use. That being said I love creamy mac n cheese so I use a lot of white cheeses and not the traditional cheddar. Â But you can use whatever kind you like!
Recipe Notes
I always use a crock pot liner when cooking cheesy foods in the crock pot, makes clean up a breeze. I also always under cook the macaroni so it doesn’t turn into a mushy blob. If you need to speed up the cooking time you can melt all the cheese in the milk and cream before adding it to the crock pot, like picture above. If you are going to melt everything over the stove tip crack the egg into the cold milk, whisk together and heat gradually; not to cook the egg.

Yummy! Mac & Cheese and ham in the crockpot! What a delicious, easy meal that even my picky eaters will love.
This looks amazingly yummy!
Do you shred or cube the other cheeses before adding them in?
It will cook faster/melt if you do. When I leave in bigger chunks I just make sure to stir it often. Enjoy!
This was delicious! My husband had 3rds! I might add some french fried onions on top next time. We will definitely be having this again…SOON.😉
